Luc’s Story

As the owner and founder of Permagard, I bring a lifetime of experience in the paint protection industry. With extensive knowledge and years of dedicated work, I take pride in the success of Permagard. Our exceptional products, combined with the hard work of our certified applicators, have established Permagard as a leading brand in the industry. Today, we estimate that over $35 billion worth of assets worldwide are currently protected with our top-quality coatings.

My journey began 40 years ago when I started a mobile detailing business in San Francisco and Marin County, California, during my high school years. In 1987, I pursued further studies in Aix-en-Provence, France. Inspired by new horizons, I established a detailing company on the French Riviera in 1989, which eventually led to the creation of a global network of automotive detailing centers. 

Embracing emerging technologies in 1998, I founded Permagard with a focus on protecting larger assets, such as aircraft and yachts. Starting with small Cessna aircraft that arrived in Cannes-Mandelieu, France, for maintenance from Africa, we rejuvenated and protected these planes’ appearances before their return journey. Over time, we expanded our expertise to larger jets. In 2003, we began treating commercial aircraft with Permagard, from the Airbus A320 to the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, spanning from Australia to the United States.

Today, Permagard is the preferred choice for customers seeking to safeguard their aircraft paintwork, with many applications performed on in-production aircraft or newly painted aircraft, as well as older aircraft paint jobs requiring rejuvenation. Our commitment to excellence led to approvals from renowned brands such as Airbus, Bombardier Aviation, Dassault Aviation, Embraer, Gulfstream Aerospace, and Textron Aviation.

Our marine division has also been steadily thriving in various Mediterranean regions. This includes the Cote d’Azur coastline, the shipyards of Viareggio and Livorno, and the island of Palma de Mallorca. Starting with smaller boats, we gradually ventured into protecting in-production super yachts. Today, Permagard Marine is one of the few coatings approved by Viking Yachts for use on both paint and gelcoat.

In 2016, building up on our success in the aviation and marine sectors, we ventured into the automotive industry. After collaborating with world-leading automotive manufacturers, Permagard Automotive is now offered in their top dealerships across Japan, Australia, Belgium, and Mexico. Notably, Permagard Automotive has gained approval from BMW, Mazda, Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi, and Honda.
