Are you interested in Permagard Automotive for your vehicle? Here are some of the most popular questions we get asked about Permagard Automotive. Let’s find out if the world’s #1 choice for aviation-grade automotive paint protection is right for you.
How is Permagard different from a ceramic coating?
Permagard is a handmade, aviation-grade, advanced paint protection coating that bonds to the pores of paintwork to seal and durably protect the painted surface. As the treated surface cures, the plasticized molecules elongate and interlock with each other. The result is an exceptionally durable, 4 micron thick, flexible sacrificial layer that protects your painted surfaces, while simultaneously vivifying its color contrasts and providing rich, exquisite gloss. Permagard is not a wax or ceramic coating. Permagard also does not create repaint issues or alter the original specifications of your paint.
Is Permagard suitable for all vehicle paint types?
It is! Permagard can be applied to any vehicle, no matter the age or paint system. Due to Permagard’s ease of application and no requirement for paint correction before it is applied, Permagard works exceptionally well on new vehicles. Permagard is also an excellent option for classic cars to preserve all the original paint’s thickness. Permagard can also be applied to vehicles that are newly painted as the curing process of Permagard is similar to the curing process of paint. The best time to apply Permagard to a vehicle is as soon as possible in order to protect as much paint thickness as possible.
Does Permagard protect my car against environmental contaminants?
Absolutely! Permagard fully protects your painted surfaces from all environmental hazards you may encounter on the road. This includes harsh UV rays, rain, snow, ice, bird droppings, insect impacts, tree sap, road tar, and road salt, among many others.
How long after the application can I drive or wash my car?
It does! Pero Upon the completion of your Permagard installation, your vehicle can be immediately driven. There is a 24-hour cure time that takes place for the Permagard coating, but the vehicle can still be driven in inclement weather upon retrieval. We recommend washing your vehicle with a PH-neutral shampoo as soon as debris accumulates on the treated surfaces. There are no strict wait times to wash a vehicle after it has been treated with Permagard.
Can Permagard prevent scratches or swirl marks?
Permagard’s primary purpose is to durably protect painted surfaces from environmental hazards. Permagard offers some slight scratch resistance, due to its slickness, and will help prevent the appearance of swirl marks on the treated surfaces. Since Permagard acts as a sacrificial layer, it is easy to repair, if needed.
Does Permagard require special ongoing maintenance?
Permagard requires only one product to maintain the Permagard coating: Service Treatment. The Service Treatment acts as a deep-cleaning agent for the original Permagard coating and fills in any micro-scratches that may have appeared on the treated surface. Our PH-neutral Shampoo for Painted Surfaces and Cleaner for Treated Surfaces are also effective at maintaining the coating between Service Treatment intervals of 11-13 months.
How long does the Permagard coating typically last?
The Permagard coating will last for a lifetime, provided proper maintenance is carried out through the Permagard Maintenance Program. Upon receiving an initial application, customers may opt into a 5-year warranty period through the Permagard Maintenance Program. The Service Treatments are performed every 11-13 months to keep the Permagard coating performing at its best and in good standing with the Permagard Maintenance Program.
