With nearly thirty years of experience, Permagard has treated transportation assets worth over $35 billion worldwide. Our clientele includes a broad spectrum of transportation vehicles from privately owned single-engine prop planes and the latest wide-body commercial aircraft, elegant super yachts and tournament-winning sport fishers, and even high-performance sports cars and off-road 4x4s.
Permagard’s proprietary formulas are not only environmentally safe, but also engineered to enhance and maintain a like-new appearance for all painted surfaces. The Permagard coating will fully protect painted surfaces for the lifetime of all aircraft, automobiles, and boats, provided that proper maintenance is carried out through the Permagard Maintenance Program. We take pride in our commitments to quality and reliability, which have made Permagard the leading standard and solution in aviation paint protection for over two decades.
Science
The Permagard shine is not by accident. It’s the result of years of research and testing. Our tough-as-nails paint protection system provides the stunning glossy appearance that aircraft manufacturers, automotive manufacturers, and boat manufacturers depend on. But what exactly makes Permagard’s paint protection system so special?
The Permagard Process
1
Once the Permagard coating has been applied, a highly-effective bonding process that forms a strongly linked chain of ionic bonds with the painted surfaces or gelcoat surfaces, creates an impenetrable shield against environmental attacks.2
After the Permagard coating has fully bonded with the painted surfaces or gelcoat surfaces, the coating undergoes a curing process, which results in a supreme gloss and depth of shine that cannot be replicated by competitive products.3
When the Permagard coating has fully cured, the treated surfaces will provide superior corrosion protection and water-repellent efficiency, ensuring that your assets remain protected against harsh environmental conditions and moisture. These three processes combined create the hallmark durable protection and signature “wet-look” appearance that Permagard is most famous for. By choosing Permagard, you can trust that your transportation assets will be fully protected against environmental attacks and look their absolute best for many years to come.
Bonding &
Curing
Permagard’s coatings contain polar amines, which give them a positive charge. This type of charge is naturally attracted to negatively charged substrates, such as those found in paint. The bond between these opposing charges is incredibly strong. Therefore, this allows the Permagard coating to penetrate the porous surfaces of the substrate and become an integral part of the painted surfaces. Through a reaction called, “hydrolysis”, a process called, “cross-linking”, occurs to form a water-repellent, highly-durable coating anchored into the pores of the paint.
This molecular relationship provides Permagard coatings with their unmatched durability and strength. Due to the strength of this bond, the Permagard coating will remain locked into the paint’s pores for as long as the paint remains on the surface it was originally applied to. This means that Permagard’s coatings will never peel or crack off of the treated surfaces, unlike our competitors’ brands.
Permagard’s coatings are capable of protecting your transportation assets against harsh environmental conditions and daily wear and tear, while providing an unrivaled glossy appearance. Here at Permagard, we believe the appearance of your assets are just as important to us as they are to you. It is why our coatings were designed to last a lifetime on your treated assets, provided that proper maintenance is carried out through the Permagard Maintenance Program.
Corrosion Protection & Water Repellency
Permagard’s coatings react to atmospheric moisture, which cross-link to form a continuous, resinous film that not only enhances the gloss levels of the treated surfaces, but also provides superior protection against corrosion. Once the resinous film has fully bonded to the substrate and completed its curing process, a water-repellent shield is created on the treated surfaces. This shield prevents water and all other liquids from penetrating the Permagard coating and causing damage to the underlying surface. Due to the water-repellent properties of this shield, it also means all liquids sheet off of the coated surfaces, leaving them clean, dry, and free of water spots.
With our reliable proprietary formulas and over two decades of real-world testing, Permagard is the smartest choice for those seeking the ultimate experience in interior and exterior protective coatings for their aircraft, car, or boat.
